It was great to see a good proportion of our regular riders over at Highordish Farm and we were pleased to welcome a good mixture of guests to our first open event.
Errol, Mark and I had spent a day at Garry’s on Friday setting out the sections, prior to that, a couple of weekends before our event Mark had taken his bike to do a more practical recce, I think we were victims of a showery week prior to the Trial date and heavy overnight rain had a major effect on how the sections rode, which did result in higher-than-normal mark taking for a large proportion of riders.
Leading the way home on the Expert route with a stellar performance was Martyn Stanistreet on 4 marks lost with Chris Gascoinge very hot on his heels losing just 2 more dabs, both riders coming to grief on section 9, which along with section 4 were the major mark takers, even more so on the inter route that had these two hazards as part of their 50/50 mix. We had quite a few retirements especially on the clubman route which we hope doesn’t deter you from coming back to ride this great little venue.
We would like to thank Garry for the use of the land, and he asked that we make our payment for land rental to his wife’s favourite charity, which we were more than happy to do.
Look forward to seeing you at our next trial back in Lincolnshire. MG.
