54 Riders entered the 4th Round Championship Trial at Smith’s Farm, Withcall for 5 laps of 8 sections, which were set using quite a few Poachers Bag sections that were a little on the tough side. Overnight rain on Friday added to the slippery conditions, luckily the trial ran in dry conditions which was definitely a bonus.

Again we witnessed a display of excellent riding by trial winner Mat Mison who rode the big matchless remaining clean all day. The only other expert rider to remain in single figures was Andrew Webbe also big bike mounted on his Ariel, finishing the day on 9. Intermediates were higher scoring with Mick Dawson bringing the little Bantam home to win the Inter route and his class on 39 marks lost. The clubman riders saw a new rider to the group nip in and steal the laurels , Robert Moor brought his B40 over from Nottingham to clinch the win on 22 marks lost from Geoff Cannon on the Sprite by just 1 mark.

Sunday 19th May is the date for the 4th round of the club championship at the excellent venue of Smiths Farm, Withcall, a major venue used in the Poachers Bag Road Trial. This year the event will be centred around the streams and woods close to the Pump House and course plotters hope to be able to adapt some of the sections used on the Bag. The trial is due to start at 10.30 and signing on closes at 10.15. The event is open to all classes of classic pre 65 British bikes with routes for expert, inter and clubman. Non-club members are welcome to ride. The postcode for Smiths Farm is LN11 9RL and it is just 2 miles from Cadwell Park. (21apr13 click for results). 62 Riders tackled 5 laps of 8 sections for the Clubs 3rd round Championship Trial, as always with this venue a couple of sections were responsible for the majority of marks lost and as ever boggy conditions on the lower side of the course for sections 6 & 7 were the deciding sections on the Expert and Inter route. Clerk of course Errol actually modified section 7 for the Expert and Inter riders after 1 lap due to deep holes appearing in the mud between tree roots, which in most cases meant that you could get away with a hard fought 3, Mick Ash, Matt Mison and Shane Lockley rode the section particularly well showing that it could be done for a single dab on each visit, which ultimately saw Mick Ash taking the laurels and winning the Expert route for 5 marks lost, Shane Lockley also on 5 and Matt Mison in 3rd place on 7 marks lost, which was no mean feat on the big Matchless. On the Inter route Steve Fewster had a great ride, being the only Rider to finish on single figures, Club-man riders fared a little better in the marks lost with Dave Pykett on the BSA Bantam stealing the show and just creeping into double figures, closely followed by George Middleton, Pete Kitching and the “Mansfield 3″ who are all riding very well at the moment. It was good to welcome again some new faces over to the wolds, in particular Mick James on the big rigid BSA riding the inter route looked very much at home with the conditions. We hope to see you at our next Trial, which is the 4th round Championship at Smiths Farm on the 19th of May

NBBC/Midland Classic Results.

Midland_nbbc+results+2013We now have set of final results for the 2nd Round hosted by Midland Classic, we will over the course of the next couple of weeks be working out the Championship positions after the first two rounds and we will post them on this site.

We hope you have all sent in your entry for the Reliance, which we are sure, will be oversubscribed. To all the NBBC riders that are going up to Scotland, have a good two days and we will see you in June.

With a false start due to wintry weather the re-scheduled Poachers Bag got off to a flying start on Easter Monday with 97 riders starting from Smiths Farm. At the end of last year we set up a dedicated email address for the championship which is nbbc@talktalk.net. we are pleased with the feedback from riders after our event and I would like to share some of the comments with you.

Sunday 14th saw the 2nd round with the Derbyshire Trial hosted by Midland Classic Club who were rewarded with a record entry of 101 riders. We are awaiting the results from Midland Classic and they will be posted on here as soon as we get them. We welcome any feedback on the championship and the email is checked daily.
