34 riders turned up to Phil Ledgerwoods Walcott Hillside for our 9th Covid19 Trial. Clubman riders were down to just a handful, possibly with the event clashing with the VMCC Founders Day, or perhaps they’d got wind of it being a fairly tough event on the hottest weekend of the year so far. Inter riders had the added extra bonus of one more hard route section to ride, making it 5 sections on the expert route, 3 on the clubman which were sections 2, 4 and 6.
Matt Mison on the expert route had a really good day on his big Matchless, not losing any marks to remain clean. Seven other riders on the expert route finished in single figures, which was commendable.
On the inter route Nigel Taylor had moved up from the clubman route on his debut ride at Smith’s to again take the winners laurels on another clean performance. The only other inter rider on single figures was Paul Kirkby riding Ex Mick Dawson’s Rigid Bantam.
Clubman route was won by David Hird, who we have to thank for being responsible for organising the setting out for the event.
John Wilkinson produced another fine set of photographs and I am sure he has captured one for every rider, so have a look on his Facebook page.
Our next event takes us to the west of our area with a new venue just off the A1 at Markham Moor on land owned by the AMCA at Bevercoates on the 15th of August, so we hope to have a good entry. Still remaining in our groups of six, with the potential of 10 sections. The Entry Form with be posted on our website early next week. MG
