A wet day welcomed the 20 riders who braved the weather to compete in day one of the weekend. The sections were cleanable but tricky with plenty of scope for dabs and nobody posting a clean sheet in any of the classes. Mick Ash won the expert route on just 4 marks lost, most of these were lost on a tricky turn and climb out of Section 2. Darren Coupland won the intermediate Route on 20 and Dave Pykett was the top rider on the Clubman route finishing on 15. Following the trial, once the rain had eased, the Fish and Chip van turned up for a very welcome bite to eat.
