A bright winters morning welcomed the riders to the first round of the Poachers Club Championship, everyone was in good spirits and the tea was warm and the mince pies were welcome.
The sections were mixed up to the “usual” with a different route to mix things up further, queues were kept to a minimum as the riders battled with muddy climbs and greasy roots. The score sheets showed that section 5 proved to be the most troublesome with a large tree route following a tight turn catching even the best of riders. The following section was observed by Buck Mison and again proved difficult with slippery muddyrocky climbs with a few tight turns on the hard route again catching out even the best riders.
Most riders stayed a little longer to see who won what on the raffle which raised in excess of £160 for the St Andrews Hospice, this will of course be added to the contributions from the entry fees and Errol will inform us of the total at the next trial.
