Benniworth Haven 2nd Dec Report

Poachers Pre 65 Trials held a non-championship club trial at Benniworth Haven, a small venue off the Caistor High Street, which had once been a railway embankment and offered a varying assortment of sections from wooded climbs to muddy streams.

Thirty six riders assembled for the start on a sunny crisp frosty morning, overnight rain on Friday after the trial had been marked out, combined with a heavy frost on Saturday did little to make this a ‘dead easy trial’, but in saying that trial winner Mick Grant rode all the sections on the expert route for zero marks lost on his Bantam.  The only other rider to remain on single figures was expert unit class winner, Cub mounted Brent Cordon who only dropped 7 marks, which was no mean feat as other rider’s scores recorded 3 figures.

Although the event turned out to be slightly tougher than anticipated, we think all riders enjoyed the day and virtually all the sections were ridable with the exception of the cambered climb of section 8, which recorded maximum marks from a large proportion of riders and kept observer Brenda amused and busy.
