Benniworth Walk Farm
Monday 9th April 2012
Poachers Pre65 Trials, 1st round club championship at Benniworth Walk Farm, 9th April.
42 riders turned out to brave the elements on a very wet Easter Monday for the first round of the club championship at a venue that prior to the event was tinder dry. But heavy rain since the course plotters had set out the Trial on Thursday had made more than half the section heavy mark takers and in a couple of instances virtually impossible by the end of the 2nd lap. Local Rider Matt Mison won the expert route bringing the big Matchless home for the loss of 34 marks, hot on his heels and mirroring his scores on most of the sections was Two Stroke rider Mick Ash on 36 marks. Unit expert winner, out on his Cub was Brent Cordon with a commendable 41 points lost.
Intermediate route riders didn’t fare any better with only Brent’s brother Steve Cordon again bringing home the laurel’s on a big bike for a loss of 37 marks on his AJS. The Clubman entry was a little down on the normal numbers but welcomed a few new riders to what was a bit of a baptism of fire, hats off to Clubman winner Tony Davison who finished the event on 29 marks on his Cub.
We hope that the high marks won’t prevent new riders from joining us on May 13th at Withcall for the next round. Also a very big thank you to all the observers who manned every section in pretty appalling conditions.
